MY CURRENT SKINCARE ROUTINE

It’s taken several months for my skin to adjust to the water and climate in Los Angeles. After almost a year of living in the City of Angels, I finally found a routine that works for me. I have sensitive, combination-oily, acne-prone skin. I also occasionally experience hyperpigmentation. As we know many things can impact the look and appearance of our skin. This can include fluctuating hormones, environment, stress, and more. Although I have a very clean diet, I cannot emphasize just how much having a consistent multi-step skincare routine has contributed to the health of my skin. Below are the products that I am currently using. In addition to these products, I also purchased a Berkey shower filter.

Makeup Remover

Odacité Blue Aura Cleansing Water – On days I wear makeup, it’s really important to me that I use a gentle cleanser that can not only lift away product, but pollution as well. The ayurvedic herbs are an added bonus!

Cleanser

ULIV Golden Glow Oil Cleanser – I always start my routine with an oil cleanse to protect the lipid layer of my skin. The fennel, turmeric, ginger, and black seed in this product help to keep my skin tone even and bright.

BIOSSANCE Squalane + Tea Tree Cleansing Gel– I was first introduced to this brand at Indie Beauty Expo LA many years ago. It’s been in my rotation off and on ever since. My skin has always responded well to tea tree oil as it has clarifying properties that are ideal for acne-prone skin.

Exfoliator

Youth To The People Resurfacing Energy Facial – My skin loves this product! It contains bamboo and diatomaceous earth: sustainable, physical micro-exfoliants that resurface the skin’s texture. It is recommended to use this product during the day, before applying makeup. However, I achieve the best results when I use this at night 2-3 times a week.

Serum

Farmacy Honeymoon Glow AHA – I use this at night, 3 times a week, to combat textured skin. This helps me achieve a smoother makeup application during the day.

Toner

Heritage Store Rosewater Facial Toner – I’ve raved about this product for many years.

Youth To The People Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha – This mist helps to combat dehydration and contains hyaluronic acid which helps the skin absorb and retain moisture.

*You don’t need to use both of these toners at the same time. I typically use whatever I have access to at the time. They both perform well on their own.

Facial Oil

Henna Sooq Moroccan Argan Oil – I use a small amount of argan oil on my face before I apply my moisturizer for an antioxidant boost. The owner, Khadija provides a really high-quality oil that is incomparable to any other brand I’ve tried. It can be used from head to toe.

Moisturizer

Youth To The People Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream – This is a fragrance-free moisturizer that always leaves my skin soft and supple without feeling sticky.

Mask

Auromere Herbomineral Ayurvedic Mud Bath & Mask – I use this mask on my face, neck, and shoulders a few times a week to help prevent any potential breakouts from my hair products.

Sun Protection

Supergoop! Zincscreen 100% Mineral Lotion SPF 40 – Because I use products that can make my skin sensitive to the sun, and prone to hyperpigmentation, SPF is a non-negotiable for me. This lotion doesn’t clog my pores or leave a white cast.

Emergency Breakouts

Aura Cacia Tea Tree Essential Oil Blend Purifying Roll-On – I keep one of these in my purse and one at home. Whenever I feel a pimple forming, I immediately apply it to the blemish to make it disappear before it fully comes to the surface.

I hope these products work for you! If you give any of them a try, be sure to tag me on social so I can share your experience.
